Frequently asked questions

“MIDCAFF™” coffee refers to beans that contain around 55% less caffeine compared to our regular coffees. It’s perfect if you want all the flavour and ritual of coffee, but with a gentler caffeine kick.

No. It’s not decaf. MIDCAFF™ contains around 45% of the original caffeine content, giving you a mild lift without the full intensity of a normal cup.

MIDCAFF™ coffee is more expensive because it requires an extra, specialised processing step to remove caffeine. The CO₂ decaffeination method needs advanced equipments and multiple rounds of treatment even before the beans are roasted which drives up the cost.

It contains approx. 55% less caffeine than regular Arabica coffee. For reference:

  • A typical espresso-based beverages would have ~186 mg caffeine and our Half – Caff would have ~83 mg caffeine.
  • A typical pour-over has ~145 mg caffeine MIDCAFF™ pour-over: ~65 mg

The reduction % is similar across espresso, French press, and other methods.

If caffeine usually limits how many cups you can enjoy, yes, you can likely drink more MIDCAFF™ comfortably. But always listen to your body and personal tolerance.

We use the CO₂ Decaffeination Method - a chemical-free process where pressurized carbon dioxide gently extracts caffeine while preserving flavour compounds. This entire process is carried out in India.

Decaffeinated beans behave slightly differently, so here’s what helps:

  • Grind slightly finer (MIDCAFF™ has fewer oils, reducing resistance during extraction)
  • Best results come from espresso machines, but manual methods also work
  • Keep your usual recipe ratio
  • For best flavour: start using 5 days post-roast

Decaffeination removes some oils, which lowers resistance in the puck. A finer grind helps restore balance, sweetness, and crema.

Please consult your doctor. MIDCAFF™ still contains caffeine, so medical guidance is recommended.

We use single-origin Yelnoorkhan Estate beans that undergo CO₂ decaffeination in India.

Not weak, just different. This is important: Strength isn’t determined by caffeine alone. Flavour strength comes from acids, sugars, aromatics, and Maillard compounds & not just caffeine. Even with reduced caffeine, MIDCAFF™ still delivers a full, flavour-forward cup, especially on espresso.

Decaffeinated beans can appear sighly darker and has a matte look than regular beans because of structural changes during decaffeination.
